While the world is slowly adjusting and evolving from the global pandemic, COVID-19’s impact is still present. Even though we haven’t quite returned to business as usual, one thing hasn’t changed at LIV Student—our commitment to keeping residents safe. As universities navigate the “new normal” (whether that be opening back up or a combination of on-site and online classes), we understand that you may be hesitant to go to school and move into student accommodation. But we want you to know that we’re taking multiple steps to make LIV Student as safe as possible, to put residents’ minds at ease.
Below, we’re sharing a few ways that we’ll help residents feel ready to return to uni and embrace life after COVID-19.
Focusing On Cleaning
We’ve always made sure to keep our residences as clean as possible, but now, we’re taking it even further. We’ve stepped up our cleaning schedules and perform frequent, thorough cleanings of all high touch-point areas following government recommendations. All common areas are disinfected consistently, so residents can feel safe when they venture from their apartments.
To prevent any potential spread of COVID-19, we also zero in on high-footfall areas. We provide hand sanitizer in all buildings. That way, everyone can help stop the virus before it has a chance to spread throughout our student accommodation.
Practising Social Distancing
We’re deeply committed to encouraging social distancing as much as possible. Currently, only LIV Student residents have access to our buildings, so that there’s a clear idea of who’s coming in and out.
Unfortunately, some areas make it nearly impossible to keep the proper amount of distance from each other. Because of that, we’re following government advice and have temporarily closed amenities where residents can’t safely distance. We understand that it’s a challenge to lose access to social spaces in your student accommodation, like cinema rooms, common rooms, and gyms. However, the more we all practise social distancing, the sooner we can all get back to normal.
Residents can still take advantage of our outdoor spaces like the rooftop terrace and safely hang with their mates.
Helping Those in Financial Distress
While COVID-19 is a virus, it’s hurt people in more ways than by impacting their physical health. We know that many people were out of work or faced other challenges, and are now in difficult financial positions.
If you’ve been impacted, we want you to know that we’re here for you and want to help. If it’s difficult to make rent payments, don’t hesitate to reach out to your local manager.
What’s more, if you’re hesitant to book due to uncertainty, we’re offering no deposit booking to reserve your spot. (Learn more in our T&Cs)
Keeping Students Informed
As businesses open back up, and we learn more about COVID-19, things are continually changing. We know how confusing it can be, and how much conflicting info there’s out there. That’s why we’re making a firm promise to update residents with any new, relevant information as soon as possible. (Check out our news page for the latest).
If there are any new restrictions, or we’re able to open more social spaces—we’ll let residents know immediately. Residents and their families can have total confidence that we’re following the latest guidelines and keeping everyone safe and informed in the process!
Offering Flexible Policies
We’re in a very uncertain time right now—we get it! Our “No Place, No Stay, No Stress” policy assures future residents that:
- If your offer of a place at your preferred university is withdrawn, we’ll work with you on flexible cancellation and deposit refunds.
- We promise the same if your visa application is not accepted.
- If your uni goes to online classes, you can defer your start date.
(Learn more in Section 4.5 in our T&Cs).
Putting Residents First
Now, just like always, residents are our priority—as well as their mental, physical, and emotional health. We’re here for you, and we’ll provide assistance in any way that we can. If you have questions or concerns, you can always reach out to us.
Read our COVID-19 Support Service guides for even more information about how we’re protecting you at your student accommodation.
Remember, we’re all in this together. You aren’t alone, and we’re doing everything we can to keep you safe, happy, and ready to learn.
Life After COVID-19 May Be Challenging—But We’re Ready
We understand how scary and stressful these past few months have been —and the uncertainty we all face. But we promise to do everything we can to make your stay with us as safe and comforting as possible. Now is the time for you to learn, grow, and explore. We’re ready to help you make that happen, no matter what challenges COVID-19 brings.
